Features and Functions
Coding the Data
The coding feature enables you to log your interactions with ease.  Select your participant and a list of interactions will appear.  Simply select the interaction type.  This initiates a timer function, enabling you to record the talk time if you wish.  Click again to stop the timer, then select the recipient button at the top of the screen to log the interaction. Your coded interactions for each participant will be listed on the left-hand side of the screen.
The Relational Data Sheet
The relational data sheet enables you to view all of your logged interactions in sequence.   This feature allows you to review or cross check your recorded interactions against the video footage for accuracy.
The Interactional Matrix
This feature shows the contacts between pairs of participants in matrix form.  The number recorded in each cell shows the frequency of connections between the sender and the receiver.
The Sociogram
This sociogram illustrates the pattern of connections between participants.  You can observe who interacts with whom, and identify conversation dominators and isolates.  The arrows connecting the participants show conversation direction.  The lines connecting the participants become thicker and more colour dense as the interaction frequencies increase.
Initiations and Responses
Use the filtering option to explore sub-sets of the data. The sender dropdown menu on the sociogram page offers you the option of selecting either single or groups of participants. The receiver dropdown menu enables you to select target recipients. The interaction dropdown menu allows you to select by interaction type. You can select linguistic or non-linguistic behaviours, for example. Click the ‘apply filter’ button to show the results. This view filters the results by initiation (shown in orange) and response (shown in green).
The NHHI
This feature enables you to calculate proportional share as a measure of equality of participation in conversation.  Values range from 0 – 1, where zero indicates perfect balance and one indicates monopolisation by a single participant.  A value below 0.1 shows a balanced distribution, a value between 0.1 and 0.18 indicates moderate balance, between 0.18 and 0.6 indicates domination by a minority, and a value above 0.6 indicates domination by one participant.
Talk Time
Talk time is recorded in seconds. This summary feature enables you to quickly identify conversation dominators and under participators.
